Staff Accountant

We’re seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated Staff Accountant to manage and streamline the financial operations that support our diverse property portfolio. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all divisions of our business.
Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Process daily deposits, including remote deposits and deposit uploads.
Make internal reserve fund transfers and maintain appropriate journal documentation.
Compile and prepare monthly journal entries to general ledger accounts.
Complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple property and operating accounts.
Assist with monthly close and preparation of detailed financial reports.
Calculate and record monthly management fees.
Account for Stripe payments and vacation rental transactions.
Prepare and submit sales tax filings in compliance with local and state regulations.
Issue owner draw payments and maintain proper distribution tracking.
Support billing processes, including the preparation and reconciliation of invoices, owner statements, and tenant charges.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process accounts payable for all properties — including utilities, vendors, and contractors — ensuring timely payment and proper coding.
Conduct accounts receivable reviews, issue statements for HOA and owner accounts, and assist with collections as necessary.
Financial Management
Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Participate in budget development, enter approved budgets into systems, and assist with ongoing fiscal year analysis.
Assist in year-end closing and compile tax materials for submission to the company’s external tax accountant.
Provide supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Set up accounts for new clients and prepare financial records for clients exiting management.
Cross-Department Collaboration
Partner closely with property managers, leadership, and other departments to ensure accuracy and transparency in all financial processes.
Support the team in maintaining compliance, resolving discrepancies, and implementing process improvements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in accounting, ideally within property management or real estate.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Buildium, QuickBooks, or similar).
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
CPA or CMA certification a plus, but not required.
Nice to Have
Experience with Buildium, Property Meld, or similar property management and maintenance software.
Familiarity with vacation rental accounting systems and online payment processors like Stripe.
Experience with HOA or condominium financial management.
