The Estate at Pine Hill
Luxury Vacation Rental in Ogunquit, Maine
Where Ogunquit’s Historic Grandeur Meets Modern Coastal Luxury
Perched above the storied cliffs of Perkins Cove, The Estate at Pine Hill has been reimagined through masterful design and meticulous preservation — a thoughtful renovation that honors its history while embracing every modern comfort.
Once known as Rose Meadows, this grand 2.3-acre estate was originally the summer residence of famed portrait artist Channing Hare, whose brush captured the essence of New England’s golden age. Hare’s creative spirit can still be felt in every line and light-filled corner — from the Italianate tiered gardens he designed with caretaker George Sargent, to the arching weeping spruce that still crowns the property’s “moon gate.”
In the mid-20th century, financier George Kane, later a board member of Panera and driving force behind Au Bon Pain, made Rose Meadows his family’s beloved summer retreat. His daughter recalled reading Kenneth Roberts’s Arundel on the library porch, surrounded by the scent of tea roses drifting through the gardens. Guests of the estate today still experience that same serene beauty — only now, with every modern comfort reimagined.
A Vision Rooted in Preservation and Grace
When the new owners first stepped onto the grounds of The Estate at Pine Hill, they saw more than a weathered mansion — they saw potential, history, and the quiet poetry of a home that had shaped generations. Their vision was simple yet profound: to preserve the estate’s spirit while reimagining it for modern living, creating a place where history could breathe alongside comfort and design.
In partnership with Maine Street Property Management (construction and restoration) and Cindy Lynch Design (interior design and furnishings), the team undertook a comprehensive transformation that honors the home’s artistic origins while introducing a new era of coastal elegance.
Inside, Cindy Lynch Design curated a refined yet relaxed palette of textures, textiles, and custom pieces — marrying legacy architecture with contemporary comfort. Each room now tells a cohesive story: heritage bones, modern ease, and an effortless sense of welcome.
Today, The Estate at Pine Hill stands not just as a renovation, but as a rebirth — a true labor of care that preserves Ogunquit’s legacy while inviting a new generation to experience its grace and beauty.
